Crater Lake -- A Miracle Of Nature..!!!

Crater Lake

The Crater Lake is a legendary lake with spiritual powers as stated by the local Klamath Tribe of Native America. They consider the Crater Lake as a sacred site formed as a result of the battle between their sky God Skell and Llao the God of the underworld .And that the consequent destruction of the mount Mazama led to the formation of the Crater Lake. They also perform various feats on the Cladera walls in quests of attaining spiritual prominence in their tribe.

The Crater Lake is better known for the Crater Lake national Park located in the south central region of the U.S.state of Oregon. The pristine lake has a unique deep blue color and clear water. It is a cladera lake where 1.958 foot of water fills the cladera to form a lake. Around 7,700 years ago the collapse of the Mount Mozama led to the formation of the crater which is now known as the Crater Lake. Some also refer to it as the ‘Old man of the lake’.

Studies reveal that the lake has hydrothermal activity remains in its floor suggesting that at some point of time the Mount Mazama may erupt once again. In a nutshell, the Crater Lake is a panoramic representation of nature’s way of evolving from a volcano into a crater lake

Most Colorful Lakes on Earth

Color is how the human eye perceives the reflection of different spectrums of light. We perceive color just as we perceive taste: sublime, exquisite, horrible and delicious. It provokes us, it enchants us and our whole world revolves around it. Everything from the clothes we wear, to the foods we eat are determined by color.

It’s only fitting then, that we explore some of Mother Nature’s most colorful works. The kaleidoscope of colors presented in this series of spectacular lake images, encapsulate the incredible natural beauty of enclosed expanses of water.

The blue hues captured in this stunning photograph of Peyto Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, show just how awesome the natural world can be

Perito Moreno in Patagonia, Argentina gets its vibrant turquoise color from light reflecting off suspended glacier ice melt particles.

Five Flower Lake in Jiuzhaigon National Park, China, is known for its crystal turquoise waters. The floor of the lake is littered with ancient fallen trees from the surrounding forests.

This amazing shot was taken near Uyuni, Bolivia. The dark green waters are so calm the mountains are reflected perfectly.

Wise Lake turned green from overhanging trees at Congaree National Park in South Carolina.

A cleverly placed sunglasses lens in front of the camera turns Kournas Lake in Crete an interesting green colour.

A lime green colored lake at Mill Hollow in the Unita Forest is actually named Yellow Lake.

Wonderful shot of a large salt lake, Uyuni, Bolivia. The red colour is caused by astronomical numbers of microscopic, unicellular organisms living in the water and salt crust.

A deep red lake at Sanetsch Pass, Switzerland.

Another red lake near Albertville in the French Alps.

Red salt lake, Tunisia. How the bacteria survive in the intense desert heat is truly amazing.
